Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about how Math Rescue works, what to expect, and how to get started.
Session Format
Is tutoring online or in person?
All sessions are conducted virtually. This allows for maximum flexibility, better use of technology, and consistent access regardless of location.
How do online math sessions work?
Sessions are held over Zoom with full screen sharing. Students and I work together in real time using interactive tools, digital whiteboards, and graphing software.
What if my student’s work is on paper?
No problem. Students can take a photo or scan their work and send it before or during the session. I’ll pull it into our workspace so we can write on it together.
Technology & Learning Approach
Why do you use Desmos during sessions?
Desmos is one of the most powerful math tools available and is now built into the SAT and Florida EOCs. Many students reach test day without ever properly using it. We use it consistently so students develop real fluency and confidence.
Do students need to know Desmos already?
Not at all. Most students start with little to no experience. I teach it alongside the math so they learn both the concept and how to leverage the tool effectively.
Do you provide additional materials?
Yes. I use a combination of school assignments and custom content built over 10+ years of teaching. This allows us to target gaps directly and move efficiently.
Parent Communication
Will I know what my student is working on?
Yes. Parents receive session notes after meetings so you can stay informed on progress, focus areas, and next steps.
Subjects & Test Prep
What subjects do you cover?
I work with students from Pre-Algebra through Precalculus, as well as college-level math when needed.
Do you offer test preparation?
Yes. I provide math-focused prep for SAT, ACT, GRE, and ASVAB, with an emphasis on both strategy and concept mastery.
Scheduling & Policies
What is your cancellation policy?
Sessions may be moved or canceled with at least 24 hours notice. Canceled sessions are not refunded but can be rescheduled for a later date.
Can we reschedule a session?
Yes, as long as it is done at least 24 hours in advance. Requests inside that window are handled case by case depending on availability and timing.
What happens if we need to move a session within 24 hours?
Short-notice changes are limited. Moving a session slightly (for example, to the next day) may be possible. Requests to push sessions far out or frequently adjust last-minute are not accommodated.
Pricing
How much does tutoring cost?
Sessions typically range from $35 to $60 depending on length and package. You can view full details here:

Is This a Good Fit?
Do you work with students who are behind?
Yes. Many students come in with gaps. We identify those quickly and build understanding step by step.
Do you work with students aiming for top grades?
Absolutely. Whether the goal is catching up or pushing to an A, sessions are adjusted to match the student’s level and goals.
